Matador (1986) is the film that made Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar (Volver, Bad Education, All About My Mother) an international sensation. It features his trademark blend of outrageous dark comedy, intense passion, and bizarre sexuality.

Diego, a crippled matador, kills prostitutes to satisfy his morbid desires. When his young, sexually-repressed student (a young Antonio Banderas) confesses to the murders, he is represented by beautiful lawyer Maria, who turns out to have desires as dark as Diego’s. The two circle around each other like a bull and bullfighter locked in a deadly dance. But how much will satisfying their desires cost them both?

This film is a breathtaking exploration of the strange ways sex can affect men and women.
