Always the first thing to say is a big thank you to everyone who worked so hard on this to make it happen.
Last summer, on the eve of my departure after four years in Oxford, I made three amazing discoveries:
- an outdoor public swimming pool in a massive park less than 200 metres from my house. I’d never even realised there was a park there.
- I followed the trail of a flier I’d picked up somewhere, and I found myself at a fantastic all-women performers live music gig (including Lisa Fitzgibbon) Maeve has been organising ‘Maeve’s Rave for a long time now, I’d just never come across it.
- at the gig I met some really cool people and we talked about common interests and concerns: funding for the Rape Crisis Centre, plans for Ladyfest &c.
It was great. Just a bit late.
We’re hoping that Agendered will help you find PLACES, EVENTS and PEOPLE in Oxford. There’s so much going on and so many projects to get involved with. Organise your agenda and help fill the calendar!
Sexuality: our first topic. Up next term: Masculinity. What do you think about gender?
Welcome! We’re looking for new writers, editors and readers. Do get in touch if you’re interested… and join us on Facebook !
P.S. The park with the pool is Hinksey Park.

Bless this ship and all who sail in her!
A problem: when I googled ‘agendered.com’ and clicked on the site, up came a ‘SITE ATTACK!’ warning. Could someone sort this out?
Have a great evening.
I also had an attack site come up when I clicked through from google - but manually typing in the site address worked fine.
Your wordpress has been hacked I think as this only happens with certain search engine referers, see:
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=874041
You need to check your wp-blog-header.php ASAP!!
The site was hacked, but via different means. The problem has been fixed for now but please warn others to type in the address directly if there the problem reoccurs and thank you Ben for bringing it to my attention. I hope everyone will continue to be vigilant.
Wow people this site looks incredible! Congratulations on making it happen - now let’s watch this gender-based space…
